Weddings and  other Special Events

I've been playing harp for weddings in the Delaware Valley for over twenty years.  I've played for all kinds of ceremonies:  religious weddings (Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and Wiccan) and non-denominational weddings; both indoors and outdoors (churches, court-houses, yacht clubs, golf courses, mansions, beaches, ships,  and even a wedding in a barn!)

As a wedding harpist, my goal is to help the bridal couple have music that truly reflects them, with an air of class and elegance.  Some folks opt to walk down the aisle to classics like "Canon in D".  Others prefer something less predictable, like "Stairway to Heaven".   I play a wide variety of music to accomodate all kinds of musical tastes:  Classical, Folk, Pop, Rock, Jazz, and Country.  With thousands of songs in my repertoire, a couple can find selections that are unique to them.

In addition to special songs, couples might choose special instrumentation.  Perhaps you'd like a duo, trio, or even a band?  I have many options available.  My husband Mark Dishong is a talented organist and pianist.  Our daughter Eleanor Dishong is a fine violinist and singer.  We also have access to many other excellent musicians who play instruments like flute, cello, guitar, drums, and trumpet.

Besides weddings, I offer music for many kinds of special events:  Parties, Anniversaries, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Memorial Serrvices, Fundraisers, Grand Openings, Retirements, Concerts, and other festive occasions.

"Laura played at a very intimate gathering held at my parents' home for guests who could not attend my wedding. One guest, my mother's best friend, Debbie, had missed the 'big day' because she was battling cancer. We had photos and a video to watch while Laura played her harp. It felt very elegant and special. But then a most unforgettable thing happened. In a very spontaneous moment, Laura gave Debbie an impromptu harp lesson. Unbeknownst to me, Debbie had an unfulfilled wish to play the harp. I will never forget the joyous expression on Debbie's face as she carefully cradled Laura's harp, while Laura guided Debbie's hands across the strings. It is my favorite memory of Debbie. She passed a few short months later. Laura is not only a consummate artist, but a generous, caring spirit. Thank you for enriching our lives and making our dreams come true!"
